Shabbat at Reyim

Shabbat is the heart of Jewish tradition. It is a day set aside each week for spiritual renewal and a retreat from the busyness of our lives. Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel described Shabbat as a “palace in time” whose architecture was built by moments of quiet and stillness together with acts of prayer, learning, joyful meals, and time with family and friends.

At Reyim, Shabbat is central to our spiritual life, and a touchpoint for our community to build and deepen their friendships. Every Shabbat, multiple generations come together to sing, daven, learn, and just be together as friends. Please join us anytime.

Friday Evening Services

We bring in Shabbat together with Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv. Most Fridays, services are held by Zoom here. Several times throughout the year, we get together in person at Reyim for “Shabbat Reyim” – Kabbalat Shabbat and community dinner (more below).

Shabbat Under The Stars

August 28, 2026

As the summer begins to transition into fall, we come together for our annual Shabbat Under The Stars outside in our courtyard.  It is part spiritual, part social, and a full expression of the warmth and openness that we take so much pride in at Reyim. Kabbalat Shabbat begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner and zmirot – communal Shabbat singing.

Shabbat Kiddush

Shabbat kiddush is where multiple generations eat and chat together, enjoying food arranged by fellow members. If you’re new to Reyim, please join us. You will be warmly welcomed!

Setting up Kiddush

We depend on members dedicating time to set up kiddush each Shabbat morning during services. Our office staff orders the food ahead of time, and set-up is straightforward. You can partner with a seasoned expert, and it will be easy from there. You can volunteer to help set up kiddush here [link].

Sponsoring Kiddush

You can sponsor a kiddush lunch on Shabbat to celebrate and honor special milestones. Whether you want to mark a birthday, celebrate the anniversary of becoming B’nei Mitzvah, commemorate a loved one’s yahrzeit, or some other occasion, choosing to sponsor a kiddush to help bring the community together can be a meaningful way to honor important moments in your life.

You can sponsor a more limited kiddush for $250 or a more extensive kiddush for $400. Please be in touch with our Operations Director Becca Wolter-Gutafson to learn more or arrange to sponsor kiddush.
